Change of Identity

Wordfringe was the name of a festival of new writing in performance that took place in Aberdeen and throughout the North-East of Scotland each May from 2006 until 2009.

Wordfringe also took on the role of literature development agency, its core team of representatives of North-East literary organisations supporting and promoting the wider new writing scene in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire thoughout the year.

Since the beginning of 2010, the literature development activities have continued under the name North East Writers, whilst the annual festival is now called New Words and takes place in September.

Also during 2010, the organisation of Aberdeen's monthly poetry gathering Poetry Aberdeen was passed to the North East Writers team.

Keep up to date with the North-East literary scene through the North East Writers website www.northeastwriters.co.uk.

Many thanks for your continued support. We hope to see you at the new festival in September and at literary events in North-East Scotland throughout the year.
