This evening of poetry and music marks the first visit to Inverurie of the celebrated Dunkeld-based writer KENNETH STEVEN. Kenneth has had seven collections of poetry published to date: many of his poems concern great moments in nature and the wonder of the wide world. His mother's people were Gaelic speakers, very much connected with the land, and it is their world and their stories which form the backdrop to much of his writing. One critic has said of his work that "the poems are full of lines which sparkle with the sunshine they are reflecting".

DANIEL THORPE (22) was educated at Strathburn Primary School and Inverurie Academy and was a member of the Garioch Fiddlers from the age of 9. His aptitude for fiddle music gained him a place at the National Centre for Traditional Music at Plockton. He then progressed to the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow where he gained a Bachelor of Scottish Music (Hons.) degree. Daniel has played in many festivals from Celtic Colors Festival in Cape Breton to Celtic Connections in Glasgow. He recently was a delegate at the prestigious International Festival of Emerging Artists in London, and earlier this month was invited to join Ceol Mor, the Traditional Big Band at Aberdeen International Youth Festival.
