New Writing from Aberdeen

Wordfringe

Wordfringe presents two evenings at the Aberdeen Arts Carnival showcasing new writing from Aberdeen and North-East Scotland

Admission £3
one ticket covers both nights

Aberdeen Arts Centre

In recent years the literary scene in Aberdeen has been flourishing, and there are probably more active writers' groups in the city than ever before. Come along to this two-part Arts Carnival showcase event to hear some of the best new writing from Dead Good Poets, Aberdeen Writers' Circle, Portal Creative Writers, Anything Prose, Spring Tides Poetry Group, Lemon Tree Writers, Huntly Writers, Deeside Writers and Ellon Wordies.

Each evening features a variety of poets and fiction writers reading from their work, and there will also be a multimedia element to each show. On Monday night poet Maureen Ross reads her poem Messenger with dance and instantaneous video from Leán Coetzer and music from Haworth Hodgkinson in a performance first seen at Duff House during this year's Wordfringe festival. Also transferring from Wordfringe, on Tuesday night the Blue Salt Collective and dancer Mhairi Allan bring a segment from their show originally given at the Museum of Scottish Lighthouses, and a preview of their show for the See, Salt and Sound festival in Aberdeen in September. The Blue Salt Collective combines poetry with projected images, live music and dance.
