Armed with a dozen or so extracts from leading novels of the twentieth century including Anthony Burgess's A Clockwork Orange, John Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men and J. D. Salinger's Catcher in the Rye, Alison Flett led a very enjoyable workshop where we, mostly regular members of Aberdeen Writers' Circle, read out our interpretations of these works as creatively as possible. We were also invited to write our own short piece of fiction based upon the title of The Box. The time whizzed by and brought out our reading and writing talents to good effect in this extended gathering.
