Paulina brightened the North-East with poetry, song and drama before returning to
her native Netherlands last summer. Now we welcome her back to read from her new
collection of poems.
She is joined by two locally based poets, Doirena Culloty and E. E. Chandler,
and there will be a short open mic session.

To Paulina Vanderbilt writing poetry is living the here and now. In her hectic
days it is what keeps her sane. Reading her poems you will not be taught great truths
or wise lessons; you will merely be invited to sit still, close your eyes and feel.
In Search of Salt is Paulina's first proper chapbook, but she's been published
in various publications, including Pushing Out the Boat, Meeting Points
and There's a Bairn in my Broth. She recently moved to the Netherlands, but
is delighted to return to launch her chapbook. She welcomes you to her moment of
glory... ehhr..., of deep spiritual awakening... ehhr... her moment: come, chill
and enjoy the magic of words!

Doirena Culloty is a student nurse studying at RGU in Aberdeen. She was born
and raised in Annaghmore, County Kerry, moved to Cork City to study childcare (hated
it) and care of the elderly (loved it), then worked in a care home before moving
to Aberdeen to pursue a career in nursing. When she moved to Aberdeen, she found
inspiration from Aberdeen Writers' Circle and Dead Good Poets. Books and Beans is
now her second home. Watch out for the girl with the short brown reddish hair and
charming smile! She is here to write poetry.

It might not sound like it but E. E. Chandler was born and brought up in
Aberdeen and at a young age couldn't wait to leave. So it comes as a surprise to
her after her travels to find herself happily living back there and she puts it
down to the lure of the sea and the silver granite.
A member of the Lemon Tree Writers, she describes herself as a novice poet and wishes
there were more hours in the day so she could fit in more writing practice. She
is predominantly influenced by people and the way they interact, successfully or
otherwise, and she loves to eavesdrop. She lives an active lifestyle with too many
interests to list (oh, and don't ask what she does for a living: she'll only lie).
